2025 SIGSIM Awards

ACM SIGSIM is pleased to announce the 2025 SIGSIM Awards presented at the Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) in Seattle.

Distinguished Contributions Award

The ACM SIGSIM Distinguished Contributions Award recognizes individuals for overall, long-term contributions to the modeling and simulation community, including technical innovation, publications, leadership, teaching, mentoring, and service. The 2025 Distinguished Contributions Award is presented to Prof. Emer. Helen Karatza of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in recognition of her impactful career and sustained service to the field.

DEVS Student Award

The ACM SIGSIM DEVS Student Award recognizes outstanding student research that advances DEVS theory, methods, and innovative applications in modeling and simulation, and is supported by RTSync with leadership from Prof. Bernard Zeigler. The inaugural DEVS Student Award is presented to Vamsi Krishna Pendyala (Arizona State University) for work on temporal diffusion models from parallel DEVS models applied to semiconductor fabrication manufacturing systems.

Best PhD Colloquium Paper

In addition, ACM SIGSIM congratulates Yongseok Jeon, who receives the Best PhD Colloquium Paper Award for the paper “Dynamic Calibration of Digital Twin via Stochastic Simulation: A Wind Energy Case Study.” This work highlights the critical role of stochastic simulation and digital twins in advancing renewable energy systems and showcases the strength of emerging scholarship in the SIGSIM community.
